Top 4 Movies to See with your Family This Summer

At Premiere Outdoor Movies, we know how hard it can be to find age-appropriate movies for your family. We’ve rounded up the top four summer hits that your kids will be begging you to see this season! More of a fan of the classics? Premiere Outdoor Movies can supply you with an in-home projection system to bring the magic of Hollywood to your own backyard!

1) Diary of a Wimpy Kid: The Long Haul. Based on the insanely popular tween series, Greg and his friends are back for another crazy adventure! This time, the gang heads out on a road trip to Greg’s grandmother’s 90th birthday (of course, Greg’s secret plan is to sneak away to a local gaming convention) but hit a number of bumps on the road. With a little bit of gross-out humor and potty language, this film is suitable for bigger children and young teens.

2) Captain Underpants: The First Epic Movie. Another film based on a book series, Captain Underpants tells the tale of a caped crusader who fights evil wearing nothing but his tighty-whiteys. Like the original series, you can expect a lot of rude (not vulgar) language and some cartoonish violence (think Tom & Jerry), but it’s best enjoyed by grade-school children.

3) The Book of Henry. If you have teens in your house, there will definitely be some chatter about The Book of Henry. The film follows a single mother raising two young boys, one of whom is a genius. Together, they hatch a plan to save neighbor Christina (Maddie Ziegler of Dance Moms fame) from her abusive father. As you might expect, the movie deals with more mature themes, so it’s best to enjoy together with your teenage son or daughter.

4) Despicable Me 3. If your kids can’t get enough of the minions, they’re in luck! Gru and his pals are back this summer to defeat the newest supervillain bent on world domination, Balthazar Bratt, a former child star who can’t give up his old character. As with the first two movies in the series, expect some cartoonish insults, but an overall heartwarming and positive message.
